Professional and personal correspondence and papers of Jones of Chapel Hill, N.C., writer, journalist, associate editor of the and husband, 1943-1951, of author Betty Smith (1896-1972). Letters relate to his service in the U.S. Army, 1944-1945, to his work as a writer and journalist, and to his personal life. Included is a five-page autobiographical sketch of his boyhood in Berryville, Va. Also included are miscellaneous rough drafts and other versions of various short stories.
